BEFORE A REMOTE SAFARI
Medical evacuation
Check whether your insurance or assistance plan covers the exact itinerary and remote evacuation.
Vehicle readiness
Water, food, recovery equipment, route plan and a suitable vehicle matter before departure.
Communications
Do not assume mobile reception. Agree how the group will communicate when normal coverage disappears.
Location
Keep offline maps, destination coordinates and enough information to state your position accurately.

Know the park's own emergency route.
Gonarezhou's 2026 visitor map tells travellers to carry enough water and food for at least two days, carry recovery equipment and remain with the vehicle where possible and safe.

The official map identifies evacuation airstrips at Chipinda Pools, Mabalauta and Mahenye. Flight access is controlled: Gonarezhou says flights require pre-authorisation.

Discovery Ambulance — Chiredzi
A current Zimbabwe medical-network directory lists a Chiredzi ambulance location at 647 Guinea Fowl Road and supervisor contact +263 773 551 576.
Directory evidence only: call and confirm current response coverage before relying on it.
Hippo Valley Medical Centre
Hippo Valley Estates describes its Chiredzi facility as a 50-bed industrial hospital providing inpatient, outpatient, occupational and public-health services.
Provider capability for a specific emergency must be confirmed by medical professionals.
National medevac providers
Cimas Rescue advertises fixed-wing medical evacuation from Zimbabwe. HAC Medical advertises fixed-wing and helicopter emergency medical evacuation throughout Zimbabwe and the region. ACE advertises short-term tourist/visitor evacuation cover.
These are independent providers, not Talunza partners. Coverage, authorisation, cost and landing suitability must be confirmed directly.
AVIATION GATEWAY
Buffalo Range can matter in the evacuation chain.
Airports Company of Zimbabwe lists Buffalo Range Airport as operating 07:00–17:00 local time, with Jet A-1 and Avgas, Category 5 fire cover, customs, immigration and port health.
ACZ also publishes an airport emergency ambulance contact: EMRAS +263 31 231 3305. Talunza should treat Buffalo Range as a potential coordination point, not promise that every medical evacuation can use it.
TALUNZA PRODUCT RULE
Readiness badge, not a fake guarantee.
Future safari listings should be able to show what has actually been checked: emergency contact supplied, first-aid capability declared, communications method, vehicle/recovery readiness and evacuation plan.
A green badge must never mean “Talunza guarantees rescue.” It should mean the listed readiness evidence was checked on a stated date.
